United Church of Pittsford

We are an independently governed church that is affiliated with both the United Methodist and American Baptist denominations. While our service blends elements of the two traditions, our focus is on following Christ in the manner that we are called.

The members of the congregation choose our pastor in the Baptist tradition. We sing from the Methodist hymnal. Our communion celebration alternates between the Baptist tradition of service in the pews and the Methodist tradition of service at the rail. We split our apportionments evenly with the two denominations.

We strive to honor the unique needs of our members. All are welcome, regardless of background. Individuals may join our church as Methodist or Baptist, or simply as members of the United Church. Parents may choose to have their infants baptized in the Methodist tradition, or they may dedicate their infants in the Baptist tradition. When older youth become confirmed as full members of the church, they may choose to be baptized by full immersion.
