American Baptist and
United Methodist
I find it hard to grasp the fact that in a few short weeks I will be on sabbatical! I am confident the experience will be refreshing and rewarding for me, and I hope the same for all of you. I know you will appreciate the pastoral care you will receive from the Rev. Barbara Wolin, and I trust you will find most interesting and enlightening the variety of preaching styles and diverse messages you will experience in the summer preaching schedule.
On Sunday, July 6, Jennifer Lazenby’s father, the Rev. Paul Vick, will be preaching and serving Communion in the Pews with his daughter. This should prove to be a very special Sunday, not only for that family, but for our entire Church Family, and I hope the sanctuary will be full!
On Sunday, August 3, our new United Methodist District Superintendent, the Rev. Ted Anderson, will preach and serve Communion at the Rail. This will provide you with a unique opportunity to meet Ted and welcome him to the Rochester area.
The Rev. Ruthellen Hoyle will complete her eight years of service as our District Superintendent on July 1, and will move on to serve as Pastor at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Rochester. Ruthellen will be our guest preacher on July 20, which will provide you with an opportunity to express your appreciation for her support over these past eight years.
On Sunday, July 27, members of the Praise Band, who have been providing music for our Contemporary Worship Services this past year, will be leading worship. They have some very special plans in the works that should prove interesting and inspiring. Certainly, you will not want to miss out on the delicious breakfast that is always served at this annual outing, and the worship service will provide you with just a flavor of what Sunday evening Contemporary Worship is like.
Below, I have provided a list of all our summer preachers.
As our program year comes to an end, we are all reminded of the many people who have volunteered their time, talents, and resources to make our ministry happen. So many have been involved in our Church School program! So many are involved in our worship services! So many serve on our Boards and Committees. Truly, the Church of Jesus Christ IS the people who compose the congregation, for together, we are the Body of Christ!
Wishing you a warm and wonderful summer!
GRACE AND PEACE, Pastor Jim
