Our church has been very proactive in creating a safe environment for our children. Our "Reducing the Risk" program has been in place for several years now, and has been used as a model by other churches that are starting to implement similar programs. One of the main guidelines of this program is that all volunteers who work with the children and youth in any capacity are required to submit an application, present a driver's license for identification, and agree to undergo a background investigation. Also, as part of this program, we require two adults to be present at any activity involving minors. This includes all activities from the childcare rooms, to Sunday School classrooms, to youth group meetings and retreats. A copy of the policies and procedures is available from the church office.
